When we get where we’re going

For awhile now, John and I have been talking about what we want in our next place: our next geographic place, career place, life place, house place, etc. And we refer to this place as “When We Get Where We’re Going.” Right now, there’s a lot of unknown in our future. Will there be a job for me? Will there be a job for John? Will we be able to sell our house? Will we be able to get another mortgage, in this economy? Will we live close to family and friends, or will we again be farther flung than we’d wish? Will we like it there, and will it like us? But when we talk about When We Get Where We’re Going, we’re not so much scared of all this unknown as we are excited for the future. I think it helps us infuse the unknown with a lot of hope. I don’t know what it’s going to look like when we get where we’re going. But I sure hope it’s nice.
